Bochum’s Felix Bastians goes down in the Darmstadt box with his side losing 1-0 and the referee points to the spot, much to the Lilies’ dismay. However, Bastians admits that he in fact wasn’t fouled and the referee rescinds his penalty decision. Honesty prevailed in the end too, as Bochum went on to win the game 2-1!

if that was the premier league the manager would have his contract terminated and the player would be heavily slated by the English press and fans for being honest. The bundesliga might be a 1 horse league at times but it is the last League out there were acts of decency is shown by fans,clubs or players when ever the purpose fits

Nah. He dived in the first place, so this was good as redemption, but he shouldn't have been praised by the officials.

I've never understood this. If you have to tell the referee to overturn the penalty decision (because you dived) then why even do it in the first place?

sometimes you see the defender coming, you think you're gonna get hit and let yourself go down, that's fair, just to make the foul more obvious. But if the defender stops right on time to avoid you... Not saying it's that in this case, but probably.
