Well and his idea about Guardiola never happened. He was hoping that Guardiola could make him into the German Messi. After all he's not dissimilar to Messi as a player and obviously Guardiola was the man that effectively made Messi's career by playing him as a false 9. But Guardiola never really gave him the opportunity and injuries ruined the rest of his opportunity at Bayern. Can't blame him for wanting to be a better footballer and even now we're seeing him want to be a good footballer by leaving the big pay cheque and empty glory of Bayern in favour of game time at the club where he first became great. I like him. I like that he left Dortmund to try improve his career (not just financially) and I like that he's returning to Dortmund (to improve his career) when he could've went abroad to some other big club that pays more money than BVB. There's not enough players like him. The kind that opt for becoming a better player over money. The likes of Mario Balotelli for instance have no interest in being good footballers. They just want the money and easy public attention. Hopefully he returns to form and tears up the league with Reus, Auba, Pulisic and whoever else is brought in during this window. We all know the Bundesliga could do with a real and serious challenge to Bayern now more than ever.
